ChatGPT Images 2.5: What Visual Creators Should Know

According to OpenAI, ChatGPT Images 2.5 is designed to deliver sharper details, more natural lighting, richer textures, more precise editing, stronger reference-photo fidelity, and more reliable instruction following across multiple turns. The company says the model is better at preserving recognizable subjects from reference photos while transforming them into new settings, styles, and compositions.

For editing, OpenAI says Images 2.5 is better at changing only the requested area while keeping the rest of an image stable, including complex subjects and backgrounds. It also claims improved multi-turn consistency, where earlier edits are more likely to remain intact as users continue refining an image in a longer ChatGPT conversation.

OpenAI is also adding workflow features inside ChatGPT. Sketch lets users draw directly in ChatGPT and use that sketch as a visual guide.
